Senator Zed Seselja has been appointed as the new Minister for Charities under the new Morrison government.
Treasurer Josh Frydenberg revealed the new Treasury portfolio on Monday, with Seselja given the responsibility for the non-for-profit and mutuals sector, including the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC), Royal Australian Mint, and assisting the Treasurer with foreign investment, housing policy, and portfolio matters.
Prior to this, Seselja was Assistant Minister for Social Services and Multicultural Affairs, and he has been an active player in the charity sector. He has a firm belief that the government needs to find better ways of working with the charity sector.
After representing the government in the CCA pre-election debate at the National Press Club which happened before the last election, Seselja expressed interest in supporting charities and his commitment to provide solutions for the charity sector.
