The ATO is currently working through the technical requirements with the Digital Service Providers (DSPs) and STP Phase 2 is expected to go live by 1 July 2021, although at this stage it is likely to be on a voluntary basis for employers to go-live from this date.
In Phase 2, the ATO will receive specific payment details across all employee income streams which means that the payment will be broken down into all the different payment types rather than currently being reported as Gross and some itemised Allowances. The ATO is also continuing to utilise the data provided under STP reporting for data sharing programs with other Government Agencies such as Services Australia.
