The Australian Government Department of Health is closely monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic and is providing daily updates, current facts and figures, travel advice and key contact details. They also have advice on how to protect yourself and others including how to slow the spread, caring for your health and a range of printable and video educational resources. Information is also available via the Coronavirus Australia app.

Mental Health

Managing mental health during a pandemic, requiring social isolation and enduring economic hardship will be a challenge for many. Help is at hand with the Federal Government providing much needed funds to organisations such as Beyond Blue, equipping them to deal with the increased demand expected during this time.

Domestic Violence

Unfortunately one of the expected outcomes of the stay-at-home requirements is an increase in incidences of domestic violence.

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has called on governments around the world to make addressing the issue a key part of their response to the pandemic, citing a sharp rise in domestic violence amid global coronavirus lockdowns.

The Australian Federal Government has promised an additional $150million to the national domestic violence initiative.
