It‰Ûªs Anti Poverty Week! 11- 17 October

Anti-Poverty Week is a week where all Australians are encouraged to organise or take part in an activity aiming to highlight or overcome issues of poverty and hardship here in Australia or overseas.

It was established in Australia as an expansion of the UN’s annual International Anti-Poverty Day on October 17.

The success of Anti-Poverty Week depends on individual people and organisations taking action to organise an activity with friends, colleagues or other groups. Any activity, large or small, that helps people to express their interest and concern about any aspect of local, national or global poverty is very welcome.

Some activities are organised by welfare and health organisations, religious groups, community organisations, schools and youth groups. Many other types of organisation also arrange activities, including government departments, local councils, business organisations, universities and sporting and cultural groups.

It’s not too late to organise an event or to register your event!

The Anti-Poverty Week website offers a lot of ideas and practical support for those who are organising an event. We strongly encourage you to get involved, organise an event or activity and register it with the Anti-Poverty Week website. (Your event can stay private, but registering it helps the organising committee know the levels of activity in different areas)
