The Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission has issued guidelines to charities on advocacy rules in any campaigning in the lead up to the federal election. The voices of charity leaders make a significant contribution to debate, but there are rules around advocacy that must be followed. This guidance aims to help charities decide the advocacy and campaigning they can appropriately undertake – and what they should avoid – as well as helping charities minimise risks when involved in advocacy.
